Ruaha National Park is one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife destinations and a true hidden gem of Southern Tanzania. Itinerary for 4 Days Safari to Ruaha Wilderness and Ultimate Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Ruaha National Park
Your remarkable safari adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel, residence, airport, or other preferred location in Dar es Salaam or Morogoro (please advise your preferred pick-up point). You will embark on a scenic journey through the heart of Tanzania, passing through Morogoro and the picturesque highlands of Iringa Region on your way to Ruaha National Park.
Along the route, you will make scheduled stops for refreshments, stretching, and lunch while enjoying views of Tanzania’s diverse landscapes, local villages, and rolling countryside. This day focuses on your comfortable transfer to one of Africa’s largest and most pristine wildlife destinations.
Upon arrival at Ruaha National Park, you will complete park registration before transferring to your accommodation. Settle into your lodge and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the African wilderness as you prepare for the exciting safari experiences ahead.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Ruaha National Park
After an early breakfast, depart at approximately 06:30 hours for a full-day game drive in Ruaha National Park. Equipped with packed breakfast and lunch boxes, you will spend the day exploring the park’s diverse habitats, accompanied by an experienced safari guide.
Ruaha National Park is renowned for its exceptional predator population and is widely regarded as one of the best places in Tanzania to observe lions, leopards, and cheetahs in their natural environment. The park also supports healthy populations of endangered African wild dogs, bat-eared foxes, jackals, hyenas, and numerous other fascinating species.
Throughout the day, you will explore different wildlife-rich areas surrounding the Great Ruaha River, seasonal riverbeds, open plains, and Miombo woodlands. During your safari, you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, and a remarkable variety of birdlife.
After enjoying a picnic lunch within the park and taking time to appreciate the spectacular scenery, continue your afternoon game drive in search of additional wildlife sightings. Return to your lodge at approximately 18:00 hours for dinner and a relaxing evening under the African sky.

Day 3: Explore More of Ruaha’s Untamed Wilderness
Following breakfast, depart at approximately 07:00 hours for another exciting full-day safari in Ruaha National Park. As Tanzania’s largest national park, Ruaha offers vast wilderness areas that require several days to explore fully, making this additional game drive day essential for maximizing your wildlife viewing opportunities.
Today, you will venture into areas of the park not covered during the previous day’s safari, increasing your chances of encountering different animal species and experiencing new landscapes. Your professional safari guide will track wildlife activity and lead you to some of the park’s most productive game-viewing locations.
The day provides excellent opportunities to observe large elephant herds, prides of lions, elusive leopards, antelope species, and the unique flora and fauna that make Ruaha one of Africa’s most extraordinary safari destinations. Between wildlife encounters, you will admire the park’s iconic baobab trees, rocky escarpments, and breathtaking panoramic views.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing your exploration. In the late afternoon, experience a beautiful sunset game drive as the golden light transforms the landscape and wildlife becomes more active. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Walking Safari and Departure
Wake up to the sounds of the African bush and prepare for a unique walking safari experience. Accompanied by an armed park ranger and professional guide, you will explore selected areas of Ruaha National Park on foot, offering a completely different perspective of the wilderness.
The walking safari allows you to appreciate the smaller wonders of the ecosystem, including animal tracks, insects, plants, birds, and other fascinating details often missed during game drives. Your guide will share insights into the park’s ecology, wildlife behavior, and conservation efforts, creating a deeper connection with nature.
After the walking safari, enjoy breakfast at the lodge before beginning your onward journey. Depending on your travel arrangements, you may transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Serengeti, or another destination. Alternatively, you may begin the scenic drive back to Morogoro or Dar es Salaam.
