DAY 1: PICK UP, TRANSFER AND TREKKING IN UDZUNGWA
Your adventure begins early in the morning as our professional safari guide picks you up from your residence in Dar es Salaam at around 05:30 AM for an exciting journey to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Along the way, you will pass through Chalinze, Morogoro Town, Mikumi National Park, and Mikumi Town before continuing through a scenic 20 km rough road leading into the heart of the breathtaking Udzungwa Mountains.
Upon arrival at the park, you will complete registration and park entry formalities before beginning an unforgettable trekking adventure along the famous Sanje Waterfalls route. This thrilling hike takes you through lush tropical rainforest, rich biodiversity, and spectacular scenery as you explore the stunning four-stage Sanje Waterfalls.
During the trek, expect to encounter colorful butterflies, unique bird species, endemic plants, and, if lucky, rare primates found only in Udzungwa. After reaching the top, you will enjoy your packed lunch while surrounded by panoramic forest views. Moreover, you will have the exciting opportunity to swim beneath the refreshing Sanje Waterfalls — a truly unforgettable experience in the middle of untouched African wilderness.
After relaxing and enjoying the waterfalls, you will begin your descent back down the mountain. The trekking experience takes approximately 4 hours up and down, depending on your hiking pace and time spent exploring the waterfalls. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Mikumi National Park for dinner and an overnight stay either inside or outside the park, depending on your selected accommodation option.

Day 2 – GAME DRIVES AND TRANSFERS BACK TO DAR
Rise early for an unforgettable sunrise safari adventure in Mikumi National Park as the park opens for game drives at 06:30 AM. During this magical morning experience, you will explore the wildlife-rich plains while the African bush comes alive with breathtaking sunrise views and active animals. Expect to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, antelopes, hippos, and, if lucky, predators such as lions and hyenas beginning their day in the wild.
After the exciting sunrise game drive, you will return to the lodge or camp at around 08:30 AM for a delicious breakfast before continuing with a full-day wildlife safari across different sections of the park. As you explore deeper into Mikumi’s vast savannah plains, your experienced safari guide will help you track and discover a wide variety of wildlife, birds, and stunning landscapes that make Mikumi one of Tanzania’s most remarkable safari destinations.
At around 01:00 PM, you will enjoy a relaxing lunch break at Mikumi Wildlife Camp, where you can dine while watching wild animals gather around nearby waterholes — a unique safari dining experience surrounded by nature. After lunch, the adventure continues with another exciting afternoon game drive through different areas of the park, offering more opportunities to capture unforgettable wildlife moments and spectacular scenery.
At approximately 03:30 PM, you will begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam. Departure time may be adjusted slightly depending on your travel schedule and preferred arrival time in the city. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your preferred location, whether it is your hotel, the ferry terminal, or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable 2-day Tanzania safari adventure with Watu Safaris.
