Sample Itinerary for 10 Days Southern Tanzania Safari
Day 1: 10 Days Southern Tanzania Safari – Pick up and Transfers to Selous
We will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Dar to start your safari. Afterward, we will drive to Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before heading for a boat safari on the Rufiji River.
Dinner and overnight stay at Africa Safari Camp.
Day 2: Full day game drives in Selous Game reserve
On this day, you will leave early with a packed breakfast and picnic lunch for a full-day game drive. Meanwhile, you will explore different areas of the park to experience diverse vegetation and wildlife.

Day 3: Game drives in Selous enroute to Mikumi
On this day you will leave for game drives while driving to Mikumi national Park via Kisaki village. Depending on your arrival time in Mikumi. You may enjoy a sunset game drive or head straight to your hotel for dinner.

Day 4: Full day game drives in Mikumi National Park
On this day you will have sunrise game drive starting from 06:30 hours and come back to the cottages for breakfast at around 08:30 hours. Will continue with game drive till lunch time whereby you will have lunch within the park. After lunch and a little rest you will continue with game drive in another part of the park till around 16:30 hours and that will be the end of full day game drive. In Mikumi expect to see animals such as Lions, Buffalos, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebras, Impalas, Warthogs, elephants, hippos and more than 300 bird species.

Day 5: Walking Safari and Evening game drives
Early morning of this day you will leave for a walking safari which takes about 3 hours to be able to experience Mikumi wildlife while walking on foot. After walking safari will have lunch break and then continue with game drives around the park.

Day 6: Transfer and Trekking in Udzungwa Mountains
This trip lets you explore the natural habitats of Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Mikumi and drive you to the Udzungwa Mountains. After registration, we will start the hike along the Sanje route to see the four-stage waterfalls.
Udzungwa is one of the world’s 34 biodiversity hotspots. During the hike, you can spot different primates, including the rare Sanje Mangabey (Cercocebus sanjei) and Iringa Red Colobus (Procolobus gordonorum), which are found nowhere else in the world. You may also see endemic plants, birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, waterfalls, and habituated Sanje Mangabeys.
Dinner and overnight stay at Tanswiss Lodge in Mikumi town.
Day 7: Transfer to Iringa and visit to Isimila Historical site
On this day after breakfast, we will drive to Iringa town for a town tour and a visit to the Isimila Stone Age Site. This tour shows the origins of humankind and the tools early humans used. Later in the day, we will continue to Ruaha National Park.
Dinner and overnight stay at Ruaha Park Cottages.
Day 8: 10 Days Safari – Full day game drives in Ruaha
Since Ruaha is the biggest park in Tanzania you will have 2 full day game drives to explore its wilderness. On this first full day game drives days you will leave early at 06:30 hours to go for sunrise game drive with parked breakfast and lunch boxes. Will continue with game drive searching for wild animals around different locations of the park till lunch break.
After lunch and a little rest within the park you will continue with the game drive till around 18:00 hours when you will go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Other animals and attractions you should expect to see includes but not limited to Buffalos, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebras, Impalas, Warthogs, elephants, hippos, different birds, plants and reptiles species.
Dinner and overnight stay at Ruaha Park Cottages on the 8th day and in Mikumi or Morogoro town on the 9th day so that the next day can be able to drive to Dar and catch the last boat to Zanzibar.
Day 10: Transfer back to Dar Es Salaam
Early morning of this day after breakfast you will leave for trip back to Dar. When you arrive in Dar, we will transfer you to the ferry to catch the 16:00 boat to Zanzibar, or we will take you to your hotel or residence. This marks the end of your 10-day safari with Watu Safaris.
