10 Days Migration Safari to Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Lake Natron
Day 1: Migration Safari – Arusha City to Tarangire National Park
To start your 10 days Migration Safari this Morning after breakfast pick from the place of your stay in Arusha City and make your way towards Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, and cheetah and up to six thousand elephant. Dinner and overnight will be at the campsite. Meals Plans; Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Tarangire National Park/Mto Wa Mbu Village
Breakfast followed by visit Mto wa Mbu village which lies within the east African Valley, Mto wa Mbu flourishes in the presence of three great rivers namely, Kirurumu river, Mahamoud River And Magadini river. The word Mto wa Mbu literally means “Mosquito River” If one is looking for the great taste of Tanzanian Culture, then choose Mto wa Mbu Village, a boiling pot of Cultures from different corners of the country! Day 3: Mto Wa Mbu Village/Lake Natron
Morning after breakfast depart to Lake Natron the breeding base for East- Africa Flamingos. Expect to see vast shallow soda lake and a white carpet of soda and salt crystals cracked in to a polygonal patchwork. If you want your safari to have a real expeditionary edge to it then you need to include Lake Natron. It is absolutely remarkable that somewhere so wild and wonderful exists so close to the Serengeti and yet is so little visited. Dinner and overnight will be at the campsite. Day 4: Migration Safari – Lake Natron
Breakfast followed by day visit to Lake Natron, enjoy seeing Mount Oldonyo Lengai (“Mountain of God” in Masai language), It is one of the few volcanoes in the world to omit Sodium carbonate and potassium, whose run off accounts for the extremely alkaline. The areas around Lake Natron contain some of the most amazing scenery in Africa. The combination of broad open plains, sheer rift escarpments, enormous freestanding volcanoes and the vast multi-coloured soda lake itself is utterly breathtaking. Day 5: Lake Natron /Serengeti National Park
Morning after breakfast, game drive en route to Serengeti National Park via Loliondo and Waso through Kleins gate with picnic lunch. We head to the Lobo area, the wildebeest migration, normally the migration pass through the Lobo area every year around July / August en-route to the Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve and again in late October / November en-route to the southern Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world, the heart of wild Africa – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Day 6: Migration Safari – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. The area around Lobo and the Grumeti River has good resident game throughout the year. Non-migrating game like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard and cheetah can be seen here all year round. The game viewing is very good and you can follow game for long periods without seeing other vehicles – truly one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti Plains. Magnificent riverine trees can be found along the river lines and bird life such as kingfishers and fish eagles can be found here. Dinner and overnight will be at Lobo Campsite. Day 7: Migration Safari – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast full day game drives en route towards the central Serengeti National Park, also known as the Seronera. We descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Dinner and overnight will be at Seronera Campsite. Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 8: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, enjoy full day game viewing in the vast Serengeti plains where you may encounter the migration consisting of over 2 million animals. They also attract the attention of predators like cheetah and hyena and you may be able to see a band of lion’s gang up for a hunt. The majority of the wildebeest migration normally passes through the Seronera in late November to middle November, when they migrate from Kenya’s Masai Mara in north to the Ndutu area in the south. The migration then passes through this area again in April when they move west to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti National Park. The Seronera area is also an ideal starting point to visit the eastern and southern short-grass plains of the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight will be at Seronera Campsite. Day 9: Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After very delicious breakfast will head for morning game drives in Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch. Later depart for Ngorongoro Crater Rim via pre historic site at Olduvai George and shifting Sands, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. Dinner and overnight will be at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite. Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater Tour/Arusha City
After breakfast descends to the Crater floor for game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. You can expect to see lions, elephants, Zebras, Hippos, Flamingos, Jackals, Rhinos Antelopes and many birds. The birds seen here include eagle, vulture, and flamingos in the Crater Lake, stork, bats, giant vulture, sacred ibis, kori bustard, blacksmith plover, long necked heron and the cattle eagle. Lunch will take place at the picnic site at the crater floor. After lunch will continue with game drives en route while ascend the rim and transfer back to Arusha City, where you will arrive late evening and drop off at the hotel of your choice and that will be the end of your 10 days Migration Safari with Watu Safaris.
